Wrapped up a successful semester with all of you amazing group of students. Everyone wa so incredibly lovely and always eager to learn!
I want to share a quick take-away by recapping a topic at the last class review – the use of BCC. Blind Carbon Copy. Let me break down the WHEN an WHY you would use this very covert tool.
There are 3 fields to be aware of when emailing someone: “TO”….”CC”…and “BCC”. The TO field and the CC field are visible to all who receive the email. Anyone you put in the BCC field – only YOU and “that person” will see “that person’s” email address, not everyone else. WHY? One of the biggest reasons is confidentiality – to protect someone’s personal contact information – for example, if you want to email all your friends and family about a party for example…..not everyone in your family or group of friends want their email exposed. Same when I want to email everyone in the class about an assignment. In that case, I will put all your email addresses in the BCC field to protect your personal contact information from other students. I am not at liberty to share anyone’s personal information so using the BCC is the appropriate method. There are tons of other important reasons but I will leave that for another post so check back often to find more great recaps of the semester.
Until then…hydrate, practice, and enjoy the sun!
